Pomona, unlike many newer
communities in the region, is a true city, with a wide complement
of uses, numerous historic resources, and major institutions, such as universities, hospitals and the L. A.
County fairgrounds.
It is a diverse community, geographically as well as in its social and demographic makeup. The City's General Plan builds on Pomona's heritage and diversity, and provides a new direction for the City's development by emphasizing a renewed Downtown and revitalized commercial corridors; proposing focus areas and neighborhood centers to help define and distribute new development; and outlining a vision of the future design of Pomona's public realm
